Hoard Trash

While I have to thank Other Jeff for this photo, I would like to dedicate this post to my dear friend Jayanna, the only person I know that is more obsessed with hoarders than I am. Jeff also pointed out that the bed of the truck was entirely full. Too bad the phone number on the SALE sign isn't visible.

Dictionary trash

I have been getting the Merriam-Webster Word of the Day for almost two years. There have been some ridiculous words, and some awesome words. I discovered my favorite word of all time using word of the day, but I have also received some e-mails containing words that I don't believe are valid vocabulary builders. (Favorite word = puckish adj. - impish, whimsical. Words that I think could have been skipped are, lollygag, yokel, zany, and wisenheimer) Imagine my dismay when I come across the email from MERRIAM-WEBSTER that contains a word, and then the pronunciation of a totally different word! I love the irony in the two words that are included. I would also like to point out that when I did a spell-check of this document, lollygag, and wisenheimer went unrecognized as words. Total. Dictionary. FAIL.

Bark Park Trash

Summer is here. People are outside. People are with their dogs. People are outside with their dogs. And what better place than the Gage Park Hill's Bark Park? I encourage everyone to go...if for no other reason than the people watching. Here we have two fine examples. The first is 80's trash. The second...trashy trash.

Let me tell you something about this little gem of an outfit. It is VERY short grey sweat shorts paired with a grey short-sleeved HALF-sweatshirt! Note the ponytail through the cap, excessive jewelry and try to picture the Marlboro Ultra Light 100s tucked in the back waistband. 80's trash classic!

Now, this little lady is working something very special. I'd seen her at the Bark Park once before (giant raver pants, tiny cammo halter top) and hoped for a repeat show. I was rewarded for my patience. We have here black sweatpants and an iridescent bikini top! You can't see it in the pictures, but this ensemble was complimented by two facial piercings, three terrible tattoos (butterfly anyone?), stretch marks and some truly unfortunate teeth. Trashy trash at its best!

Tard Trash?

Apparently, we have a new bakery sensation that is sweeping Topeka. I would like to know if these delights are made by, for, or of said tards??

Hero Trash

I decided when I initially saw this to let it go... leave it alone... forget about it. I told myself "This guy is your hero! I am sure it is just a typo." Tonight I met my teaching idol, the teachers’ teacher, the reason I ever envisioned myself in the classroom, Mr. Ron Clark. He spoke non-stop for an hour an a half running around the room, jumping up and down, most of his speech was done from the front row of chairs which he would run the length of. He did some of the dance routines his students choreographed such as Obama/McCain "You Can Vote However You'd Like" which you may have seen on TV or YouTube. AMAZING. All I could think was I am in the presence of greatness. So afterwards, I am chatting it up with those around me towards the back of the line waiting patiently for my turn. I get to the table, he signs my book and the conversation is as follows. Tiffany: “Thank you so much for visiting WU, you have been such an inspiration, but I would like to tell you something, I checked the Ronclarkacademy.com website and I noticed that Kansas is abbreviated KA instead of KS. You are my hero and you are passionate about education so I knew that you would want to know that this was on a website that is a reflection of you, maybe you should talk to the person that does your site." Kind of a jerk move-I know, but I also thought it was kinda quirky and funny. Ron Clark: "I don't have anything to do with that." Ouch. Fine. Whatever. Except I cannot just let it go. Tiffany: “Well, you are my hero and I knew you wouldn't stand for something like that being on your website." Ron Clark: “Uh-huh.” Tiffany: “Would you mind a picture?” He agreed and that was it. Nice meeting yous and I walked away feeling like the biggest jerk ever. This is not a website that he has no affiliation with; he founded and still teaches at the Ron Clark Academy. Being such a well-known inspirational educator, I thought he would want to know that a web designer made a mistake that he would never accept from one of his students nor do I think that his students would make that mistake. Ron Clark is still an inspiration; however, he is a bit more human in my eyes. I do not feel any remorse about this post, my only regret is not getting a better screen shot. I added the link, I don't know how long it will take for them to update it.

Sturgis Trash

While the title of this post might sound redundant I just couldn't resist. This gentleman was sitting at the bar during one of our many sessions at Old Chicago. A special thank you to Sam for capturing this photo. I would also like to add that the gentleman also said his wife would take her clothes off if he would like to have a photo of that as well. Of course, Sam accepted. J/K.

More Signage Trash

This post is pretty self explanatory. Sam and I went back to get this photo after we passed this sign on Wanamaker. I would like to know who is making all of these signs.

Grammar Trash

As we venture through the great city of Topeka and beyond we often take photos of signage errors. These pictures are then forwarded on to each other and eventually englishfailblog where they are absolutely never posted. I present to you the photos I have in my possession and there are definitely more to come.

Can you name these locations??

These are the few I have access to while at work. Send us any additional photos.

Tweety Trash

The thing that first caught our eye in the (vast) world of Topeka Trash was the very thing we bring you in this post...TWEETY TRUCK. I was driving down Wanamaker and ended up behind it and immediatly called Tiffany to tell her about it. SHE ALREADY KNEW! She too had been subjected to Tweety Truck. We began discussing how ridiculous it is when adults cling to cartoon characters in the form of clothing, tatoos, decals, etc. We decided we had to blog about it. Then, the other day, I was driving down 21st Street talking on the phone with Sam and, behold, Tweety truck pulled out in front of me. The chase was on...

Trash Hunt

This blog has been ignored and I only have myself to blame. I am planning to spend as much time as necessary on a trash hunt this weekend so if anyone knows of an event where there will be a concentration of subjects do share. More to come...

Irony Trash

As we begin our maiden blog, Tiffany and I cannot help but notice the inherant irony in our beginning a blog specifically to make fun of trashy people while out in public dressed like this, stuffing our faces with cake...

Notice, I actually have cake on my boob. Boob cake is DEFINITELY trashy. Also, take in Tiffany's pink pants. She claims they're red but I think she's living in the past. She can't remember how long she's owned them. She's been forbidden to wear them in public and fears their confiscation upon the publication of this post.

The point of Trash Blog is to publicy mock everyone who isn't us. This is essentially what we do on a regular basis, we're just publishing it. Please, submit pictures, signs, whatever. Items may be e-mailed to either Tiffany or me. We want real-life material, things you see around town. For our first post, in the spirit of good sportsmanship, we'll make fun of ourselves. Here's some material from our very own playbook.
